Rock & Roll Circus: Take 3 PDF Print E-mail

Well what a night that was! Saturday 24 October 2015 saw the Tom Prince Rock & Roll Circus hit the King's Theatre once again!

Four top local acts rocked the iconic stage and played to a packed audience... who were quickly up on their feet and dancing in the aisles!

This was the 3rd Circus and there was something for everyone as the line up covered a whole range of music and eras...

First up was the SOUTHSEA SKIFFLE ORCHESTRA.... There seemed to be hundreds of members on the stage - they are one of the largest skiffle bands in the country! There were checked shirts and washboards galore. People were soon clapping along as 1950s skiffle and folk filled the room, and the glass jug duo was  pretty darn epic!

The BOG ROLLING STONES were next up and they didn't mess around... they got straight into the best of the Stones. These guys are always energetic and dress to impress with their wigs and costumes... and there was SATISFACTION abound as people got to their feet!

This was a very slick affair and there was just a little break between acts, during which DJ Rob Moore entertained the crowds and the dancing continued!

Then it was The RACKETEERS turn... This dapper seven piece belted out Ska, Blues n Soul and Jamaican RnB. Their big brass section got everyone up and the audience danced as the double bass spun round and round!

The FLIKS closed the show, and my what a job they did! Dressed like they had just walked straight out of the 60's the band sang the best hits from the era - and the audience sang them right back! The trio of female vocalists had us in the palm of their hands, and even ran a 'cheer along' to determine what their last song of the night would be! The applause said it all - what a great show from eveyone!!!

The raffle tickets sold like hot cakes...well done to the lucky winners, Ray and Dawn Muscat, who have won a week's stay in a beautiful villa in the south of France! Thank you so much to Steve and Emma Martin who kindly donated the prize.

Each Circus has been a roaring success and this one was no different. The crowd all cheered as the grand total for night was announced. Together we raised an epic £3,000! And lots of new people now know about the Trust which is great! Thank you so much everyone!

We managed to grab a quick group photo of all the acts and organisers before the show started, and it was humbling to see just how many people had volunteered to be part of the show - and each and every person did a fantastic job.

Thank you so much to all the bands and DJ Rob Moore who gave their time and played for free - you were all brilliant! A massive thanks to Andy (Beefy) Burgess, Steve Pitt all those involved in organising the event - we know it takes a lot of planning to make an event like this run smoothly. Thanks also to the staff at the Theatre who worked so hard on the night, and to everyone that came along and joined in with the fun and the fundraising!
