Blue Day 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Thank you for taking take part in Blue Day 2010.

Over 114 schools and businesses took part in Blue Day 2010 and it was fantastic to see the city turn blue in support.

Blue Day 2010 was held on Friday 14 May 2010; the day before the FA Cup Final and there was a fantastic atmosphere as the city came together to celebrate getting to the Cup Final whilst raising funds for the Trust.

The support of the city was astounding and we were very impressed by the energetic and varied ways people got involved. School uniforms were ditched in favour of Pompey shirts and blue clothes, faces were painted and hair was shaved. People took part in blue keep-fit classes and brought tickets for blue raffles. Blue cupcakes were sold, blue dogs were walked down the beach, songs were sang, collection buckets were shook and fun was had by all!

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part; it was lovely to walk around the city on the day and see our posters in windows, hear the Trust's name on the radio and see people wearing their blue with pride. You couldn't help but notice the shops and schools decorated with blue bunting and balloons, the Pompey bus was driving around causing a stir and we were even featured on the TV programme South Today.

As well as raising funds you have helped us to raise awareness. We are a small charity that thrives on individuals taking the initiative to get involved; previous Blue Day events encouraged new people to approach us and fund-raise and we hope that Blue Day 2010 does the same.
Blue Day is also about celebrating the local community and bringing people together for a good cause. Even though we didn't win the cup we still made it to the final (again!) and this is something to remember. Come what may in the next football season Blue Day 2011 will be there to remember our achievements and celebrate the city.

Total Raised

Money has started in come in and we have already banked over £7,500. Blue Day will definitely enable the Trust's fund to smash through the HALF A MILLION mark which is such a fantastic achievement! However, we are still waiting for funds to come in and we want to get it all in as soon as possible so that we can let everyone know the grand total! There are a number of ways to get the money to the Trust:

Paying in the Funds:

 - Cheques can be made payable to the Tom Prince Cancer Trust and sent to: 44 Haslemere Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO4 8AZ.  THIS IS THE PREFERRED PAYMENT METHOD.

- You can pay money into the Tom Prince Cancer Trust account at any Lloyds Bank in Portsmouth or the surrounding area. Please have the money  counted and bagged up ready for the bank. Lloyds know the Trust's account details; you simply need to state that the payment is a Blue Day 2010 contribution for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust, and note your organisations name for their records.

- You can pay on-line via Pay Pal by following the link on the Trust's homepage. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU PUT THE FUNDS THROUGH AS A 'GIFT' OTHERWISE THE TRUST IS LIABLE FOR A HIGHER FEE.  There will be a charge by Pay Pal for using their service;  you can opt to pay that fee yourself  or alternatively it will come out of the funds raised.

-Even if you do not have a Pay Pal account you can still pay funds in using this method; follow the Pay Pal link on our homepage, scroll down to the bottom of the page and follow the instructions on-line. To find the Trust on Pay Pal type in our e-mail address: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

- You also can make payments via the Trust's Just Giving page, which is accessible via the Trust's homepage. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TRUST IS CHARGED FOR USING THIS SERVICE AND WE CAN ONLY CLAIM THE TAX BACK IF THE FUNDS ARE PUT THROUGH AS A PERSONAL DONATION. If you are paying in money raised by fund-raising it would be more beneficial for the trust if you pay it in via the other available methods).

Whichever way you pay the funds in, please detail that it is a Blue Day 2010 contribution and note your organisations name for the records.
